Dr Bushra Abu-Helil
Microbiologist, Head of Science and Research at BIOME9
Dr Bushra Abu-Helil is Head of Science and Research at BIOME9 and Head of Microbiology at Pooch & Mutt, part of the VAFO Group. She holds a PhD in Microbiology and Zoology and has worked across poultry, human and canine microbiome research. At BIOME9, Bushra leads the company’s microbiome research and in-house laboratory programme, including DNA extraction, sequencing and bioinformatic analysis. Her current research uses large-scale canine microbiome datasets and machine learning to identify microbial signatures associated with gut health and disease, and translate these insights into more precise approaches to canine nutrition and supplementation.
